Senior Year Memory Part TWENTY FOUR: El Fudge

One of the things I remember about senior year is the frequent occurrence of E.L. Fudge cookies.  JP gave my E.L. Fudge cookies frequently, usually at random times.  I remember one time I came to visit him over Jan Term, and he had hidden them under a folded blanket on the futon and made me find them.  They were always double stuffed, and we never called them E.L. Fudge but referred to the as el fudge.

These cookies continued to make their presence in our relationship showing up on our engagement night and our wedding day.  Our small gift for out guests were E.L. Fudge cookies!

Two Guys, Two Graduations, One Day.

Congratulations to my brother-in-laws who both graduated on Saturday May 8.  Yep, they both graduated on the same day so parents and grandparents had to divide up to give equal support.  JP and I were unable to go to either graduation but enjoyed seeing pictures.

Matt graduated from The Kings College in NYC.

Michael graduated from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Congratulations guys! :)

Senior Year Memory Part TWENTY THREE: Formal

JP and I met a few friends at Amy's apartment before the party.  It was actually the same group that met there for the 80's party when JP and I initially met.

Afterwards we met more people at Brio for dinner.  I loved my meal but apparently JP gave his meal a funny look.

This formal held on December 2, 2006 was a little stressful.  Two nights before the party Phi Mu nationals informed our chapter that we would be required to take buses to our party... even though there would be no alcohol served and our party location was 2.4 miles (I google mapped it) away from Samford.  Despite our arguments, they did not change their mind.  It was quite difficult to find transportation at such short notice, but our president with the help of friends was able to get it taken care of.

So, JP and I got to ride in a limo for the 2.4 miles to the party.

We did have a fun night.

It is always fun to dress up! (Although JP might not agree. If you notice in the pics above JP did not tuck in his shirt.  I didn't even notice but once our families saw pictures several of them pointed this out).

Seniory Year Memory Part TWENTY TWO: JP's Friends

This past weekend JP and I spent some time with the few friends of his that are still at Samford.  Hanging out with them on Samford's campus made me remember some of the memories I have of hanging out with his friends my Senior year.  You never know what to expect when you hang out with this group!

Swimming... but not in a pool.
One hot spring Friday, I was coming back from lunch in the caf.  JP called to see if I wanted to go swimming with him and his friends.  That sounded like fun to me so I threw on my swimsuit, and he came by and picked me up.  I don't know why with this group but I was expecting to go to a pool, but no we were going to a random creek.  We had a lot of fun jumping of the sides and swimming around.  However, looking back it was probably one of the grossest things I have ever done because the water was very far from clean.  Talking about it now, JP and I are very surprised that no one attracted some microorganism.

Pocket Bikes
Towards the end of the school year, a few of JP's friends got these pocket bikes that looked like this...

Those guys rode those things all over campus.  One night they were all riding them around the parking lot, and I decided I wanted to give it a shot.  It was a really a lot of fun!  At one point of time I was on the far end of the parking lot.  I turned too sharply and fell of the bike.  As soon as this happened, the group of 5-6 guys came sprinting towards me.  I really wasn't hurt, just a few scratches on my shoulder and arms, but they were all really concerned.  I was quite pleased with the way I handle the situation... I hoped right back on the bike.

We Are Blessed!

Happy Mother's Day!

Senior Year Memory Part TWENTY ONE: Spring Break '07

This summer my dear friends Blair, Laurel, Amy, Emily, and Brittany... better known as BLAMEB... are having a reunion  Anytime we are together we are bound to have.  Take Spring Break senior year as an example.

We went to Gulf Shores for the week and had such a fun time.  To this day we still bring up comments made during a game of Catch Phrase and still laugh as hard as we did on that trip.

Senior Year Memory Part TWENTY: Not Quite Van Gogh...

JP and I used to go on walks several times a week in the Homewood neighborhoods behind Samford.  One evening on a walk we noticed a house that had put all kinds of stuff out for the garbage truck to pick up.  In the pile of stuff was this painting.

We rescued the painting from its demise and hung it on the wall above the futon in JP's student apartment.  Me, JP and his roommate had a quite a discussion about what the painting was trying to convey and which way it was supposed to hang.  I'm not really sure why we decided to hang it this direction.

During JP's senior year, he hung the painting again but hung it the opposite direction with the squares on the bottom.  He even carried this painting to the house he lived in the summer before we got married, and I think it was hung horizontally.  Once we were married and he moved all of his stuff to our apartment, he did not bring the painting with him.  We have no idea where it is now.  Maybe it was put out for the garbage truck and another couple just happened to stumble upon it.

After reading this post to JP his response was: "Oh no! I don't know where that is. I can't believe I lost it."
