Make new friends... But Keep the Old!

Recently some of my college friends got together for a weekend of fun.

Here we are in 2007 on Spring Break.

Here we are 3 years (+ husbands + real jobs + houses + 2 kids + grad school) later... (minus 1 who could not make it)

We had a lot of fun hanging out and catching up.  We ventured to Samford where we checked out our sorority house, found our freshman dorm rooms, and took pictures with good ol' Mr. Beeson.

 Our Freshman dorm room!

Overall it was a super fun weekend.  It is great to have friends that, even though you don't see them all the time, when you do see each other it is like you were never apart.

Senior Year Memory Part TWENTY FIVE: Kickin' It at the Country Club

One of our Senior spring parties had a country club theme.  I was really pleased with me and JP's costumes! I told him to just wear a polo shirt and khakis, but he came with two cool hats and a croquet club as well.  I had borrowed a golf brand baseball-style hat from my dear little friend Braxton but decided the hat JP had did a lot more for the costume.  I also bought some golf clubs at the toy store.

Senior Year Memory Part TWENTY ONE: Spring Break '07

This summer my dear friends Blair, Laurel, Amy, Emily, and Brittany... better known as BLAMEB... are having a reunion  Anytime we are together we are bound to have.  Take Spring Break senior year as an example.

We went to Gulf Shores for the week and had such a fun time.  To this day we still bring up comments made during a game of Catch Phrase and still laugh as hard as we did on that trip.

Senior Year Memory Part THREE: Frisbee... I mean flying disc

During the Spring of my Senior year, I took a class with these two girls:

For some reason we decided during our last semester of college we should take a flying disc class that met at 8am on Mondays and Wednesdays. It was taught by THIS guy who is "a champion of virtually all flying disc sports." We were not exactly the best in class but we held our own among the girls (there were only at total of 5 girls in the class of 25).

Because I needed to practice my flying disc skills, JP and I would throw the Frisbee often. The following is our favorite "playing Frisbee" story. We still bring it up sometimes and laugh.

JP and I were playing Frisbee at the Botanical Gardens. While we were playing, this couple with a small child walks by. This child, who is probably had just recently started walking, breaks away from his parents and starts toddling towards us with his arms stretched out. JP takes this to mean that the child wants to play Frisbee, so he throw the Frisbee to the child. The child, who like I said probably hadn't been walking for very long, certainly had no hand-eye coordination. So, the Frisbee smacks the kid right in the face. Of course the child starts crying and JP and I were in a very awkward situation.

Since finishing my flying disc class, I have actually gotten much better at throwing a flying disc. My sister actually took the same class last year! She, JP, and I still have a lot of fun throwing the Frisbee together.

Sweet Friends

I got to spend some time with two good friends that I haven't seen in a really long time!

Blair
Blair is responsible for setting up JP and me. She just got back a week or so ago from Nepal where she was serving the Lord for 4 months. I was so excited that she wanted to come to Birmingham!

We met for lunch Monday at Baha Burger. We then went to Alabama Adventure, where we both got in for free! We enjoyed hanging out in the wave pool talking and riding a few rides. We could not stay long though because I had class :(

JP, Blair, and I enjoyed a relaxing evening at the apartment. JP made hamburgers (i know hamburgers for lunch and dinner!). We all stayed up pretty late talking until it was time to go to bed! Blair was our first overnight apartment guest JP and I have had since we have been married.

Brittany
Brittany is my dear friend from Decatur. We seriously have not hung out since the summer of 2007 before I left for Dallas. I apparently have no pics from then so this pictures is from all the way back in November of 2006!

We have been able to keep up some over the phone but it's not the same as seeing each other. When Brittany told me she was doing an internship in Birmingham this summer, we were both very excited.

Tuesday night we ate at California Pizza Kitchen. We had a lot to talk about since so much has happened in the last... oh... two years!

And of course... as usual, our conversation revolved around boys! The first conversation we remember having was the summer after my senior year of high school on the roof outside of Laurel's bedroom window. It was about boys... We still talk about boys but the conversations are a little bit (ok, a whole lot) different now, and we like it that way!
