Hilton Head 2011: Part FIVE

We left Hilton Head on JP's birthday, so we celebrated the night before.  I'm not sure what he was more sad about, turning 26 or leaving the beach the next day.  My guess would be leaving the beach.





On the way home, we stopped at Chickfila and further celebrated JP's birthday.  And yes, JP is wearing his Disney World button he got last year.

Hilton Head 2011: Part FOUR

Of course spending time on the beach is the best part of the beach!  I always try to spend as much time as possible on the beach.  Other than laying on a towel, we got up and did a lot of things.

Bocce Ball is a favorite of all.


This year we flew a kite by our spot.




And of course morning and evening walks are always a must!  This year JP would run in the morning and would ride my bike in front of him to give him a fast pace to follow.



Michael, who is an awesome-legit photographer, always takes sunset pictures.  Here I am at sunset.  JP did not join me in the photo shoot this year.  It probably is a good thing if your remember last years photo shoot.




Now by the end of the week, after spending so much time in the sun, this is how I end up.  But, I can't stand to go inside!



And on the last day at the beach, JP and I always take our traditional "we don't want to leave the beach" pictures.

Hilton Head 2011: Part THREE

Going out to eat is one of the best parts about the beach.  We sure did eat at a lot of really good restaurants.





 One of the most interesting restaurants we ate at was Harold's Diner.



 

 Harold's is set up the same way a Waffle House would be set up... although likely even a little smaller.  They have tons of unique, make you laugh signs covering their walls.

 

 

 

 The food was really good too.

 

 But my favorite part is the fact that these people are hard core Red Sox fans.


Although eating out is great, we also got to eat some yummy food prepared by JP and his Mom.  If you know JP, you know he is a really good cook, and he loves to do it.  He bought some fresh shrimp and scallops from a seafood market. SO good!

Hilton Head

A few weeks ago JP and I went with his family to Hilton Head.  I had never been, and I loved it.  I definitely want to go back!  Actually, JP and I have decided that one day we will live there.  Hey, you never know!

We took two cars.  JP chauffeured Matt, Michael, and me.  With eight people there was tons of stuff so Michael and I rode in the back with his huge camera bag in between.  The ride actually went by pretty quickly... 

... because we saw some interesting things.  We saw...

 ...a barbeque grill on the road, and yes, it was actually smoking as it traveled down the road.

Michael got quite excited about this fake NASCAR car, which we saw right after we saw a random man run across the off ramp with a watermelon.

We also stopped at the funniest gas station ever...

Once we got there we enjoyed a relaxing week on the beach.  I didn't take any pictures, sadly.  Michael and I enjoyed riding all over the island on bikes that we rented.  We saw alligators, tricked security guards, and had the funniest experience ever with a water fountain.  I had never ridden my bike on the beach before so that was fun.

We enjoyed going out to dinner.  Our favorite was the Sea Shack.  JP really liked Harold's Diner.  Harold's is a very unique restaurant.  If you ask the man taking your order that you don't think you can eat the whole platter because he will respond "It's America puddin', you don't have to."  Also don't enter if you are a Yankees fan!  Finally, don't ask the guy who seems to be in charge if he is Harold, because he is not.  I was informed that Harold, in fact, died 16 years ago.

We had a lot of fun playing games both on the beach and around the kitchen table.

So, overall it was such a fun trip.  When I go back (because I will), I will definitely eat at the Sea Shack again, rent bikes, and I will try and take at least one picture!
