In between the time he called me and our date (which if I remember correctly was on a Thursday night) he randomly surprised me. There was a shuttle that drove around Samford's campus and he took it up to the Phi Mu house. He called me and was like come outside. So we got to hang out for a little while before our actual first date. I thought that was cool.
When JP asked me on our I date I was very impressed. Why? Every other time I had ever been asked out it was always, "what do you want to do?" or "Let's go to a movie. Which one do you want to see?" When he asked me, he had a specific plan... I had to make NO decisions.
Of course I needed a new outfit so Emily accompanied me to the mall where I purchased a super cute brown top at Ann Taylor Loft. I couldn't decide if I should wear heels (he's tall, I'm not) or flats (I would be much more comfortable). I ended up wearing flats. I am very impressed right now because I just asked JP if he remembered what I wore on our first date and he said, "Yeah, that green top. No I mean it was brown." For him that is pretty good!
The night of our date JP picked me up at the Phi Mu house. At the time he did not have a car so he was driving Sean's green Jeep. We had to stop and get gas and then we went to dinner. JP had planned for us to go to Rojo which I had never been to before. We ate outside and I'm pretty sure I got a quesadilla. Not gonna lie, at first I thought our conversation was a little awkward for a few minutes... (just asked JP, he did not feel this way) but then we started talking about our blind date and everything went smoothly from then on.
After we ate, I didn't know what the plan was. I assumed if he hadn't had a good time he would take me back to the Phi Mu house and if had then he would have something else planned. He must have been having a good time because on the way back to Samford he asked me if I wanted to go back to his apartment (he lived in the student apartments on campus). I, of course, said yes.
At the apartment we watched a movie. He did let me choose that and I chose Bourne Identity. JP's roommates both ended up coming in for a little bit so I got to meet both Sean and Stephen. After we watched the movie, we ended up talking for a really long time.
I think ended up leaving around 1am... my sweet roommate had been to worry about me because I had been out so long. When I finally left, JP said, "What kind of shoes do you have on?" I showed him I had flats on and he said, "Good" At the time I didn't know what that meant but I was glad that I had chosen to wear flats!
I was unaware at the time but there was a wooded path that connected Student Apartments to West Campus where the Phi Mu house was. So, JP walked me back to the Phi Mu house on this path (although it was dark at the time:
I had had a really good time and of course was so happy and excited!Even though I got back late there were tons of people awake in the Phi Mu house because it was the night that the sophomores found out who there little was. That was fun coming back to everyone being awake!
Once we all went to bed we were all awakened earlier than we wanted to be. At about 5:30am the fire alarm went off and we all had to go outside. We were all pretty miserable but a lot of people were asking me how the night before had gone so it was fun to be able to report that it had gone well!
