Sunset Boulevard was one of my favorites that we have watched. JP did not like it as much. One of the reasons I liked it was because it kept my attention very well. There were several twists in the plot that I did not see coming. I have found that I seem to fall asleep a whole less when we watch a movie on the AFI Top 100 list seem. As in, I don't think I have fallen asleep once and typically I fall asleep in most movies.
One of the things I found interesting was that in the movie the main female character Norma Desmond was a former silent movie star. Norma was played by Gloria Swanson, a former silent movie star herself. However, Gloria handled the success of sound movies much better than Norma!
Time Magazine described the movie as "Hollywood at its worst told by Hollywood at its best." And Look Magazine described Swanson's performance as "brilliant and haunting."
